The present invention describes a method for evaluating the concentration of a subset of variants in a population of variant protein analytes which can be separated by a fractionation system, wherein said population of variants is contacted with a population of specific, protein and labeled binding partners of these variants, to together form labeled partner-analyte binding complexes. These then undergo separation, effected by said fractionation system, into one or more fractions containing said subset of variant analytes in a complex form. This gives the evaluation of the labeling value in one or more fractions, said population of specific binding partners exhibiting, before the reaction, a substantially uniform distribution or mobility in said fractionation system. Also described are test compositions and kits that can be used with these methods. This method is particularly suitable for the analysis of variants of the transferrin protein. |
