abstract Heterohybridomas producing human monoclonal antibodies against an HIV-1 neutralizing epitope are prepared by transformation of peripheral blood lymphocytes using the Epstein-Barr virus, by selection of cells producing an antibody against a synthetic peptide representing a portion of the neutralizing epitope, and by fusion of this with a heteromeloma cell. The invention also relates to a method for producing a human monoclonal antibody specific for an HIV-1 neutralization epitope from the heterohybridoma, as well as human monoclonal antibodies specific for specific peptide epitopes of the V3 loop of the HIV glycoprotein Gp120.
