A process for the preparation of very pure ureas of the formula phenyl- (NH-CO-NR₁R₂) n in the phenyl, an optionally substituted phenyl or phenylene group and R₁ and R₂ are either the same and each an alkyl group, or different, where R₁ is a hydrogen atom and R₂ is an alkyl or phenyl group or R₁ and R₂ together with the nitrogen atom represent a heterocyclic ring and n is the number 1 or 2, by reacting a phenylurea of the formula phenyl- (NH-CO-NH₂) n with an amine of the formula NR₁R₂H in one under the reaction conditions inert diluents at temperatures from 100 to 200 ° C, the reaction being stopped before by-products are formed and the urea formed is separated from the starting compounds and the unreacted starting compounds are used again in the process. |
