abstract | A method of treating a supported, new or deactivated metal catalyst with a precious metal content is described in order to prepare said catalyst for use during the hydrodehalogenation of a compound whose formula is CnHmFpXq, in which each X is independently selected from Cl and Br, n is an integer from 1 to 6, m is an integer from 0 to 12, p is an integer from 1 to 13, and q is an integer from 1 and 13, and in which m + p + q equals 2n + 2 for acyclic saturated compounds, m + p + q equals 2n for cyclic saturated compounds and for acyclic olefinic compounds, and m + p + q equals 2n-2 for cyclic olefinic compounds. Said method consists in bringing said catalyst into contact with an atmosphere containing chlorinated gas at a temperature of between approximately 100 ° C. and approximately 400 ° C. and for a period long enough to improve its catalytic activity for said hydrodehalogenation. A process of catalytic hydrodeshalogenation is also described, characterized by the use of a sustained metal catalyst containing a precious metal content which has thus been brought into contact with an atmosphere containing chlorine. |
