abstract Device for controlled heating of media in a hand piece (1) having a media line (2, 3) comprises a heating device (4 to 11) which contains a PTC thermistor resistor (5) and a heating circuit (8 to 10), the PTC thermistor resistor (5) being constructed as a heating element and forming with a heat exchanger (6) a structural unit or a heating element which is situated in the heating circuit. The heat exchanger (6) contains sintered metals and is in two parts. The PTC thermistor resistor (5) is arranged between the heat exchanger elements. The media flow successively through the heat exchanger elements. The effect is to produce in a small space a large exchange surface which permits a short heating time and uniform heating of the media. The detachable arrangement of the heating element (5, 6) enables simple maintenance. n<IMAGE>
