titleOfInvention | Soil remediation process and system |
abstract | Method and apparatus for corrective maintenance of floors with a waste coefficient close to zero, preferably usable concurrently with an asphalt plant. The soil contaminated with a quantity of light hydrocarbons of up to around 30,000 ppm is heated in an inclined rotary separator with axial heating; it is then sampled to determine the remaining contaminants. If the soil contains less than 100 ppm (preferably 10 ppm), it can be replaced as a clean fill. If the soil does not meet the D.O.T./CALTRANS standards and has a contaminant content of less than about 100 ppm, it can be used as an earthworks fill. If it contains between approximately 1000 and 100 ppm of hydrocarbons and if it meets the standards, it can be used as an aggregate and be mixed with hot oil for the production of asphalt. The gaseous effluents from the separator are condensed, the liquid hydrocarbons thus recovered are separated and mixed with hot oil. The hot gaseous effluents from the condenser are used as secondary air supply for the main dryer, and thus increase the efficiency of the operation. A dusting / settling system cleans the heat exchange plenums with compressed air. |
