abstract An iron complex compound, pH-neutral to basic, is used as an activator, in particular for the reduction of setting times and for the increase of short and long term resistance, in a soluble salt as adjuvant for hydraulic binders containing carbonic acid. The ferrite content of the binder must be at least 4% by weight. The compound forming an iron complex is to be mixed with the binder in the dry state. A hydraulic binder according to the invention preferably contains at least 3 mMol% of a compound forming an iron complex and a carbonate donor in a molar ratio between 0.3 and 4 relative to the compound forming an iron complex.
