COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TREATING INFECTIONS CAUSED BY ORGANISMS SENSITIVE TO $g(b)-LACTAM ANTIBIOTICS |
abstract |
Compositions and methods for the treatment of an infection caused by an organism sensitive to a beta-lactam antibiotic comprising two or more active agents. In one embodiment, the composition comprises: (1) a beta-lactam antibiotic and (2) a cationic oligopeptide. In a variant, the composition comprises: (1) a beta-lactam antibiotic which inhibits the growth of the bacteria Enterobacteriaceae and (2) at least one active membranous substance. The invention further relates to improved methods for detecting potential bactericidal compositions in vitro using in particular components of a complementary active cascade. |
