ABSORBENT STRUCTURE WITH A THERMALLY BONDED REINFORCED FIBER LAYER AND A LAYER OF SUPER ABSORBENT MATERIAL. |
abstract |
Absorbent structures (100) comprising a thermally-bonded fluid acquisition/distribution layer (10) comprising from about 10 % to about 50 % thermoplastic bonding material and from about 50 % to about 90 % of chemically stiffened cellulosic fibers and, positioned beneath said fluid acquisition/distribution layer, a fluid storage layer (106) comprising at least about 15 % by weight, superabsorbent material. The thermally-bonded fluid acquisition/distribution layer is a web comprising the chemically stiffened cellulosic fibers and thermoplastic bonding material made by blending the stiffened fibers with the thermoplastic bonding material when in a fibrous form, forming the web, heating the web to melt the thermoplastic fibrous material, and cooling the web. |
