abstract The valve device for a catheter with a catheter hub consists of a tubular housing (11) which has at its first end an outer cone (13) for fitting into an inner cone of the catheter hub (30) and which has a valve body inside as a shut-off device for an axial passage to the passage of an elongated object. According to the invention, the housing (11) is provided with an axially directed extension which forms a radial intermediate space (14) with the outer surface of the outer cone (13) and which has a locking element which is connected to a counterpart element in the intermediate space ( 14) engages protruding catheter hub (30) as an axial disconnection lock. In this way, a valve device is created which is suitable for a catheter system for venous use according to the Seldinger method and which ensures a reliable closure of the extracorporeal end of the catheter.
