A process for the production of extracts from Rhizoma Petasitidis with a very low content of pyrrolizidine alkaloids by extraction of the drug with compressed carbon dioxide at> 8 MPa and subsequent separation of the extract from the solvent by lowering the density is described, the extract being separated off Solvent treated with one to ten times the amount of water and the extract dries after its separation from the aqueous phase.n n n In this way, a high-quality butterbur extract is produced, which consists of up to 40% by weight petasin and has a pyrrolizidine alkaloids content of <0.1 ppm. |
