Megakaryocyte and platelet growth, production and composition |
abstract |
Megakaryocytes and platelets are produced in culture using conditions that encourage megakaryopoiesis while discouraging fibroblast formation. In particular, it can be seen that human plasma or heparin with fetal calf serum promotes the formation of megakaryocytes in receptacles devoid of fibroblast support coatings. A factor associated with megakaryopoiesis is described. |
