titleOfInvention Suture tie device system and applicator therefor
abstract A variety of configurations of suture fixers (30, 48, 68) and applicators (172, 218) for suture fixers are provided, as are methods of suturing. The suture attaching devices include at least one tab member (32) having a curved or angular distal portion (38) engaging the tissue. Optionally, a fastening element (40, 56) can be provided which can be moved unidirectionally or bidirectionally along said leg element. The engagement of a distal leg portion in a distal opposite leg portion where the fastener forms a suture loop positioning the organ or tissue between the curved or angular legs and the fastener. Said attachment element can be advanced towards the tab element so as to exert a variable suture tension. The invention also relates to an apparatus for installing suture fasteners and methods of suturing.
