VACCINES AND METHODS BASED ON RECOMBINANT HERPES VIRUSES. |
abstract |
Viruses made avirulent by preventing the expression of an active product of a gene which is designated by gamma134.5, located in the reverse repeating segments adjacent to the unique long DNA sequence of the herpes virus simplex and which is not essential for viral growth in cell culture. Viruses whose gene has been deleted or which carry stop codons are completely avirulent after intracerebral inoculation in mice. |
