Liquid-crystal mixture |
abstract |
A liquid crystal mixture useful in an electro-optical liquid crystal system contains a mixture of dielectrically positive liquid crystals, as well as another optically transparent medium, located between two electrodes possibly arranged on substrate plates. The molecules of these liquid crystals have an irregular orientation when disconnected. The refractive index of the liquid crystal mixture essentially coincides with the refractive index of the nM matrix and / or the quotient of the mass of the liquid crystal mixture and the mass of the optically transparent medium is equal to or greater than 1.5. In one of the two switching states, the liquid crystal system has reduced transmission compared to the other state, regardless of the polarization of the incident light. In order to obtain a liquid crystal and / or several components of the liquid crystal in the matrix material having a reduced solubility and / or little dependent on the temperature, the liquid crystal mixture is based on liquid crystal compounds having a medium birefringence DELTAn between 0.09 and 0.20 (20 ° C, 589 nm). |
