The POX genes of C. tropicalis are caused to burst, resulting in the total blockage of the beta oxidation pathway of the strain. Fermentation of genetically broken C. tropicalis cells on alkane, fatty acid and fatty acid ester substrates provides high amounts of essentially pure dicarboxylic acids. |
