The process for purifying albumin from supernatant IV, and in particular IV-4, or from COHN's fraction V or from a plasma supernatant or fraction of similar composition derived from an alcoholic or non-alcoholic fractionation, comprises a hydrophilic anion-exchange column step, with binding of albumin on the column followed by elution, and a hydrophobic anion-exchange column step. The albumin thus obtained, having an electrophoretic purity, determined on cellulose acetate, of > 99%, is free of impurities which can be detected by crossed immunoelectrophoresis and free of polymers. |
