abstract The present invention relates to a composition which can be used especially for the manufacture of stoppers, and to its manufacturing method. A composition principally consists of particles of ligneous vegetable material such as natural cork or wood, of a plastic having a closed-cell structure such as expandable microspheres, and of a binder; a stopper comprises at least one active portion consisting of a composition according to the invention, and the said binder is a food-grade adhesive, for example of the polyurethane or acrylic type. The technical field of the invention is that of the cork industry.
