abstract | This invention relates to novel neuroprotective agents having the formula (I) whereby R1 and R3 independently represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxy, cyano, nitro, halo, trifluoromethyl, amino, alkylamino, or dialkylamino; R2 represents alkyl; R4 represents, alkyl, phenyl, or benzyl; n is 0 or 1; m is one of the integers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6; and X represents alkyl, alkanoyl and, when the sum of m and n is other than 0, X also represents alkylamino, dialkylamino, or phenyl, pyridinyl, pirimidinyl, pyrazinyl, quinolyl, morpholinyl, furyl, thienyl, pyrrolyl, tetrahydrofuryl, tetrahydrothienyl, substituted or unsubstituted pyrrolinidyl, piperidinyl, piperazinyl or perhydropyrimidinyl, wherein the substituent is alkyl, alkoxy, halo, trifluoromethyl, cyano, nitro or hydroxy; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt; and their use to combat CNS disease states of degeneration. |
