New monoclonal antibody reacting with a human colorectal mucin antigen. More particularly, the antibody of the invention is a murine monoclonal antibody, CT43, reacting with a new antigenic determinant on a mucin antigen closely linked to human colorectal cancer. The antigenic determinant discovered by CT43 has been characterized as being resistant to neuraminidase and proteinase K, sensitive to periodate and non-reactive with the glycoconjugates of Table 2. Methods have been developed for detecting and quantifying the determinant CT43 antigen and correlation with colorectal cancer. CT43 and CT66 specific for the sialylated Lewis a antigen and the Lewis a antigen were deposited with the American Type Culture Collection, under the registration numbers ATCC HB 10217 and ATCC HB 10218, September 6, 1989. |
