abstract | Compounds of the general formula (I), where R1 represents hydrogen or C1-3 alkyl, R2 represents hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, C3-6 alkenyl or C3-6 alkynyl ; n and m are whole numbers between 1 and 3 provided that n + m = 4, and one element from X and Y represents CH2 and the other represents CHR3, C = CHR4 or C = NR5, in which R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11 and R12 are as defined in the specification, and their salts are useful as pharmaceuticals, in particular as central muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. The compounds are therefore useful in the treatment of diseases such as senile and presenile dementia, Huntington's chorea, tardive dyskinesia, hyperkinesia, mania and Tourette's syndrome, as well as as analgesic agents used in the treatment severely painful conditions such as rheumatism, arthritis and terminal illnesses. |
