A polyarylate film having optical isotropy and processes for the preparation thereof are disclosed, in which the film satisfies the following relationship (1) and (2); n n W ≧ 1000 - 70000 T² (1) n n W ≧ 850 - 70000 T² (2) n n wherein in the formulae, T is the film thickness in mm and W is the film width in mm, n and the retardation value of the films (1) and (2) is not more than 20 nm and 10 nm over the whole range thereof, respectively. |
