A method of extending the half-life in vivo using a biologically active protein or peptide characterized by covalently coupling said protein or peptide to a polypeptide fragment capable of binding to a serum protein, so that when said protein or peptide conjugate obtained is administered, its binding to serum protein results in prolonged biological activity; the use of the protein or peptide conjugate in the manufacture of a medicament which, when administered to a mammal including humans, has a prolonged half-life in vivo; and method of therapeutic or prophylactic treatment. |
