abstract The invention relates to an irradiation device with a radiation source (2) and a filter (3) arranged in the beam path. The filter has two disks (4, 5) which enclose a cavity (14) in which a medium, preferably water, which selectively influences the radiation spectrum is provided. The panes are held by a frame made of a good heat-conducting material, which cools the medium enclosed in the cavity. In order to improve the cooling, at least one of the disks (5) is pot-shaped with a stepped edge (8). The clear distance (b) of the edges (7, 8) of the panes (4, 5) held in the frame (6) is greater than the clear distance (c) of the central regions (11) of the panes (4, 5).
