abstract An S-(lower fatty acid)-substituted glutathione derivative of general formula (I), salts thereof, and production thereof, wherein R₁ represents hydrogen, R₃ represents hydrogen or optionally substituted lower alkyl, R₄ represents optionally substituted lower alkoxy or optionally substituted amino, and n is 0 or 1, provided that when n is 1, R₂ represents hydrogen, optionally substituted lower alkyl, or optionally substituted phenyl. These compounds can be advantageously used for treating hepatic disorders, because they have an excellent activity of inhibiting these disorders.
