POLYPEPTIDE VERSIONS WITH ADDITIONAL CYSTEIN REMAINS AND CHEMICAL MODIFICATIONS THEREOF. |
abstract |
Cysteine-added variants ("CAVs") of polypeptides have one or more cysteine residues which replace natural amino acid residues, or which are introduced into the polypeptide sequence, and are preferably modified by deletion of certain N-terminated amino acids. Such variants with cysteine addition can be modified again by coupling of reactive sulfhydryl compounds to the residue (to the remains) of cysteine introduced without loss of bioactivity in order to produce IL-3, G- CSF or EPO selected and homogeneously modified. The invention also relates to improved pharmaceutical compositions containing said variants. |
