titleOfInvention | Halogen terminated poly(halostyrenes) and a process for the preparation thereof |
abstract | The invention relates to new telechelic polymers of halostyrene having 2 to about 6 halogen endings, to a polyether of halostyrene, to block copolymers having ABA-type structures in star structures, which depend on the number of halogen endings in the starting halostyrene block, as well as a process for the formation of these compounds. Halostyrene polymers are formed by the iniferous or initiating transfer agent polymerization technique, while the polyether block is polymerized by silver catalysis of monomers such as tetrahydrofuran. These polymers and copolymers have good flame resistance. |
