titleOfInvention | The use of fluid insoluble oxidizing agents to eliminate interfering substances in oxidation-reduction measuring systems |
abstract | Systems and methods are provided for removing active reduction-oxidation substances from aqueous, partially aqueous or non-aqueous fluids. The invention consists in bringing the fluid to be treated into contact with a redox-active agent which is insoluble in the fluid, thus oxidizing redox-active substances of interference. Electron transfer agents can also be used. The residual agent is removed from the treated fluid on the basis of its insolubility, so that no residual redox activity remains. The invention is useful for the removal of interfering redox-active substances from liquid samples when analytes in the sample are to be measured using chemical reduction-oxidation techniques and these redox-active substances of interference, which are eliminated by the described method, interfere in the reduction-oxidation analysis. In addition, this invention is particularly useful for carrying out a pretreatment of blood, serum, plasma or other body fluid before analysis or other use of these fluids, when the presence of redox-active substances constitutes interference in this analysis or use. |
