A device with sensor means (13) which is detachably attached to the outside of a body and connected to electronic circuit means (43) serves for the continuous measurement of blood pressure and a variable correlated therewith, in particular the flow rate of the arterial blood and for determining the pulse wave velocity. The sensor and circuit means (13, 43) also determine a variable that is a measure of the pulse wave velocity and, by combining the two variables, including at least one calibration value, determine at least one variable that is characteristic of the blood pressure, namely the systolic blood pressure. |
