The invention relates to the use of stabilized chlorine dioxide or chlorine dioxide and aqueous solution, as a composition reducing or preventing the formation of plaque and treatment of diseases ecologically associated with plaque such as gingivitis and periodontitis. Preferred concentrations are between 0.005% and 0.2% and the chlorine dioxide can be in the form of a rinse, a wash, a bath or a toothpaste. |
