abstract | According to a process for manufacturing chipboard with chips of all kinds, a binder is applied to the chips contained in a mixer and the mixture thus obtained is pressed so as to form panels. The binder contains potassium silicate and a one-component cross-linkable isocyanate resin, as well as (a) a hydraulic binder which forms Ca (OH) 2 when converted with water, preferably cement, in an amount sufficient to bind the water produced during the reaction of potassium silicate with the isocyanate and the water contained in the components, in particular the chips, and (b) organic silicon compounds which are liquid at room temperature which form during the hydrolysis of silicic acids, preferably the ester of silicic acid, in an amount sufficient to ensure the conversion of Ca (OH) 2 to CaSiO3. |
