Phenyldioxanes have the formula (I), in which R1 is an alkyl or alkenyl residue each of which has up to 16 carbon atoms, and in which one or two non-contiguous CH2 groups of these residues can be replaced. by -O-, -S-, -CO-O-, or -O-CO-; Q1 and Q2 are independently of each other, (a), (b) or (c); (a) is (d) or (e); L1 and L2 are, independently of each other, F or H; and Y is Cl, F, CN, CF3, OCF3 or OCF2H; m and n are 0 or 1; these compounds are suitable for use as constituents of liquid crystal media. |
