titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF PAPER, AND PAPERS OBTAINED USING THE SAME.
abstract A method of manufacturing paper in which a feed is prepared using cellulose fiber material containing calcium sulfate (gypsum), said material being disintegrated in an aqueous medium to be part of the feed for producing the paper. The characteristic features of the process are that (a) carbonate ions and / or hydrogen carbonate ions (CO32-) or resp. HCO3-) are transmitted to the aqueous medium, and (b) the pH in the aqueous medium is adjusted to an alkaline value so that the calcium carbonate forms a precipitate and forms part of the suspension. Said method has considerable general advantages in the context of applying layers of gypsum on paper, in that the waste can be reused without any annoying precipitation of the gypsum. The invention further relates to a new quality of coated paper, the characteristic feature of this paper being that the filler of the base paper consists entirely or partially of precipitated calcium carbonate (CCP), and that the pigment of the coating layer consists entirely or partially of calcium sulfate.
