Quantitative immunoassay system |
abstract |
Method, apparatus and system for agglomeration analysis using co-ordinate carrier particles made of copolymeric materials and capable of diffusing light and not reacting specifically in body fluids, and having antibodies or antigens fixed irreversibly on their surfaces. The concentration of biologically active substances of interest are determined by the light scattering properties of the particles during the test. During a test, a light sensor (48) is offset relative to an axis (82a) of a column of light directed through the test sample / reagent mixture (97). The detector (48) is protected from light scattered by a barrier (108) with opening (110). The light scattered by the mixture (97) is detected at a specific angle by the detector (48). The intensities of the scattered light, and the variations occurring during the test, are used to determine the concentration of biologically active substances of interest. |
