abstract |
A device for the continuous measurement of the ammonia concentration in gases in the ppm range has a columnar absorption vessel (1) with a hemispherical bottom (4). The latter has an overflow (3) and an outlet (5). The gas inlet pipe (7, 8) opens above (4) and below a sieve plate (6) arranged in column (1). A packing (10), which fulfills (1), rests on the sieve bottom. (1) continues upwards into a cooling section (11). This has a cooling zone (15) and a gas collecting space (16) with suction nozzle (13) above it. A tube (14), which ends in a zig-zag fashion on both sides, cools down from (16) in front of the packing. The liquid absorbent is introduced into the gas collecting space through a side connection (18). To measure, a certain volume flow of the gas is washed in countercurrent with the absorbent, determined in a part of it the NH₃ content, measures the volume flows of the flowing absorbent and the freed of NH₃ and dried gas and calculates the ammonia concentration. |
