A pre-slotted injection path (710) includes a housing (712) through which a flow path (728) passes. A first end (714) of the housing (712) carries a pre-split septum (718). A second end (716) of the housing carries a coupling element (736) used to adapt the channel to normal bottles. The coupler (736), a vial connector, includes an adapter tip (752) having ports (758) which allow fluid in the bottle to flow through the tip (752) and up to to the injection route (710). The bottle connector (736) is provided with a protective skirt (734, 744) which protects the adapter tip (752) during manufacture and use. The protective skirt (734, 744) can also lock the adapter element (700) to the injection path (710) when coupled with a normal vial, despite variations in the dimensions of the vial openings. Another embodiment of the coupling element (814) comprises a barbed end tip (816) (818) capable of being introduced into a normal bottle and preventing it from being withdrawn. A blunt cannula (730) can be used with the injection route (710) in conjunction with the coupling elements (736, 814). |
