abstract |
Process for the production of steering wheels with a metallic skeleton and a plastic casing foamed onto the skeleton, in which a core made of an open-pore foamed plastic material is placed on the skeleton in a first step and then on the steering wheel prepared in a second step with nominal dimensions Form with the interposition of a release agent that does not hinder the adhesion between the two layers, a visible coating made of non-foamed plastic. Polyurethane is used as the material for the production of the core and the visible cladding, the core and the outer skin in different modifications, for example the core in a sub-cross-linked - excess of free OH groups - and the visible cladding in a cross-linked modification - excess of N-CO groups - getting produced. The core can be directly foamed onto the skeleton in a shape that is evenly below the nominal size, or prefabricated from pre-expanded foils and applied to the core by thermoplastic deformation or welding. Injection of the core of thermoplastic material as a preform is also possible. |
