abstract |
A process for the manufacture of 2,6-diisoalkylnaphthalene from a charge of naphthalene or paradialkylbenzenes from a charge of benzene advantageously combines a balancing step in order to increase the amount of the monoalkylated charge provided in the alkylation step, as well as the use of a form-selective catalyst in the alkylation step, in order to obtain an alkylation reaction product in which the 2,6-dialkylnaphthalene isomer or paradialkylbenzene represents a quantity greater than an equilibrium quantity. Recycled process components are brought to the balancing reactor where they are combined with a new charge to provide enriched monoalkyl charges to the alkylation reactor. |
