Production of vulcanizable rubber mixtures and their vulcanizates with improved adhesion to reinforcements based on steel cord and textile fibers, whereby effective amounts of modified novolaks are added to the rubber mixtures as adhesion promoters, which were produced by simultaneous reaction of polyhydric phenols with aldehydes and unsaturated hydrocarbons under acid catalysis at elevated temperature and none contain disruptive proportions of free starting phenols. Rubber mixtures according to the invention can be processed easily and advantageously without releasing toxic substances which could pollute persons involved in the processing and / or the environment. Rubber mixtures according to the invention, which can be produced, processed and vulcanized by known methods by intensive mixing of the components, are very well suited for the production of technical rubber articles with reinforcements based on steel cord and textile fibers, e.g. Tubes, drive belts, conveyor belts and vehicle tires, the resulting vulcanizates showing excellent adhesion properties on the mentioned strength members with surprisingly good properties when exposed to moisture. |
