Photographic support materials consist of a conventional support, such as polyester film, cellulose acetate film, or resin-coated paper, on which there is an antistatic layer comprising vanadium (V) as well as a capping barrier layer composed of a latex polymer exhibiting hydrophilic functionality. Said barrier layer ensures excellent adhesion between the antistatic layer and the cover layers, such as silver halide emulsion layers or anti-wrinkling layers, and also prevents unwanted oxide diffusion. vanadium (V), so that the combination of the antistatic and barrier layers serves to provide a high level of permanent antistatic protection. |
