abstract A device for irradiating the bronchial tubes of a patient for photodynamic therapy has an optical fiber (11) which feeds the light of a laser into a bronchoscope and is surrounded by an optical fiber tube (8) and an outer tube (2). The distal end (13) of the optical fiber (11) is embedded in a silicone mass (17) which contains 7 parts per thousand TiO₂ particles with a particle size of 0.2 µm. The silicone compound (17) fills the front end of the light guide tube (8) up to the end face (6) of an aluminum cylinder (5) which acts as a mirror. The light scattered by the TiO₂ particles emerges radially through the light guide tube (8) and the front section of the outer tube (2) and acts on the patient's bronchi.
