The present invention relates to novel renin inhibitor peptides comprising an insert in the non-cleavable transition state which corresponds to the position 10,11 of the renin substrate (angiotensinogen), as well as a fraction derived from maleic acid or derivatives of this fraction, which is represented by the formula R20N (R30) - (O) CCH = CHC (O) - and which corresponds to the position 8.9 of the renin substrate, preferably at the level of the N termination of the peptide. Such inhibitors are used for the diagnosis and treatment of renin-dependent hypertension, congestive heart failure, renin-dependent hypertaldosterism, other cardiovascular disorders and renin-dependent eye disorders. |
