The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of mono- or polyalkoxylated aromatic compounds from aromatic compounds carrying at least one halogen atom.n n n The invention relates to a process for the preparation of alkoxylated aromatic compounds which consists in reacting an aromatic compound bearing at least one halogen atom with an alkali or alkaline earth metal alcoholate, in the presence of a catalyst. copper and which is characterized in that one operates in the presence of a co-catalyst chosen from formamides and their acetals.n n n In an alternative embodiment, the invention also relates to the reaction of the product obtained after alkoxylation and carrying a hydroxyl group, with an alkylating agent.n n n The invention is perfectly suited to the preparation of 3,4,5,5-trimethoxy benzaldehyde and 3,4-dimethoxy-benzaldehyde. |
