A liquid crystal ferroelectric polymer consists of repeating units having the formula (I), in which Y represents H, CH3, F, R1 represents at least a double chiral residue, such as for example that represented by the formula (a), a is between 2 and 20, preferably between 6 and 12, b, c, d, e, f are equal to 0 or 1, A1, A2, A3 represent for example 1,4-phenylene, cyclohexylene or pyrimidin-2 , 5-diyl, M2, M3 represent CO-O, O-CO, CO-S, S-CO, CH2-O, O-CH2, and M1 represents O, (b), (c). These liquid crystal polymers exhibit short response times and good mechanical strength. They can be obtained by radical polymerization. |
