For the stepwise electrodialysis of aqueous solutions containing alkali metal sulphate, these solutions being passed through a plurality of electrodialysis cells which operate in series and have an acid chamber and base chamber and include a cation exchanger membrane, the aqueous solutions containing alkali metal sulphate are passed exclusively through acid chambers of the electrodialysis cells which, in their interior, exclusively include cation exchanger membranes and are bounded by bipolar ion exchanger membranes. The invention allows improved electrodialytic processing of solutions containing alkali metal sulphate, such as are obtained in the production of regenerated cellulose by the xanthate process. <IMAGE> |
