titleOfInvention | Method and apparatus for manufacturing a flexible optical information recording medium |
abstract | A resin layer (110) having flexibility and on the surface of which an uneven pattern (111) corresponding to information to be recorded is formed, and a reflection layer (120) formed on the uneven pattern of the resin layer and having light reflectivity are provided to thereby constitute a flexible optical information recording medium. Further, the resin layer is supported by a supporting layer (210) having flexibility. For manufacturing such a flexible optical information recording medium, a resin liquid (321), which can be hardened by irradiation of ultraviolet rays or electron rays, is filled between an ultraviolet ray or electron ray transmissible base film (301) serving as the supporting layer and an uneven pattern original block (304). Then, ultraviolet rays or electron rays (306) are irradiated through the base film to harden and give form to the resin liquid on the base film, thereafter to exfoliate it. For another manufacturing method, a resin layer (401b) of a resin, which can be hardened by irradiation of ultraviolet rays or electron rays and has thermal moldability, is formed on an ultraviolet ray or electron ray transmissible base film (401a) to form a rolled transfer film (401). The resin layer surface of the transfer film is pressure-welded onto the surface on which the uneven pattern is formed of the original block while softening the resin layer by heating it so as to transfer the uneven pattern. Then ultraviolet rays or electron rays (406) are irradiated through the base film to harden the resin layer which once has been softened, thus to exfoliate the transfer film from the original block. For reproducing such a flexible optical information recording medium (200), a flat plate like adapter is used. Reproduction of this recording medium with it being held by a lower surface adapter (511) and an upper surface adapter (512) is effective. When the thickness including the adapter is 1.2 to 1.5 mm, reproduction can be conducted using reproducing equipment on the market. Adhering adapter to the flexible optical information recording medium is equivalent to the conventional thick optical information recording medium. A flexible optical information recording medium according to this invention is particularly suitable for massproduction. |
