titleOfInvention Measuring heart function
abstract A method and a device for measuring the heart function are described. In this method, the pressure and the volume of the left ventricle are measured. From these values, the product is formed as a function of time. From this product, the time derivation is determined, and the time derivation is used to define the gradient characterising the cardiac output index. In order to measure the pressure of the left ventricle, the arrival times of the cardiac pressure pulses at a predetermined site are measured at a multiplicity of pressure values, in particular a series of optimised pressure values. <IMAGE>
