titleOfInvention | Percutaneous drug delivery system |
abstract | Method for releasing a drug through the skin of an animal, which comprises applying an enzyme preparation to a localized region of the skin for a predetermined period of time, in an amount sufficient to alter the structure of the localized region of the skin ; closing this localized region of the skin with occlusion means (20) during this predetermined time interval; removing this means of occlusion (20) and applying an effective amount of the drug to the localized region of the skin. The invention further relates to a percutaneous drug delivery system, comprising contacting means (30) for contacting an enzyme preparation with a localized region of the skin; it also relates to an occlusion means for closing this localized region of the skin brought into contact with this contact means (30); and means (32) for applying a medicament to said localized region of the skin after the contacting means and the occluding means have been removed therefrom; this means of contacting and this means of applying the medicament are different parts (30, 32). The invention also relates to a method for delivering a drug through the skin of an animal, which comprises applying a percutaneous penetration stimulator, comprising effective amounts of a combination of enzymatic and non-enzymatic penetration stimulators, to a localized region of the skin of this animal for a predetermined period of time, in an amount sufficient to make this localized region of the skin more permeable to the drug; closing the localized region of the skin with occlusion means (20) during this predetermined time interval; removing this occlusion means (20); and applying an effective amount of the drug to this localized region of the skin so that at least a portion of the drug penetrates through the skin. |
