abstract | Control valves comprising a moisture sensitive material for regulating the flow of fluid through the valve are known. The present invention relates to a control valve (1) comprising a material (4) sensitive to humidity, in contact with and reacting to increasing levels of ambient humidity. Said material (4) acts on a flexible film impermeable to moisture, to close a fluid flow connection between an inlet (6) and an outlet (7), said material (4) being insulated so sealed from the inlet (6) and the outlet (7) by said film (5). The invention also relates to a method for cultivating plants in which one or more plants are cultivated in a culture medium comprising hydrogel particles loaded with aqueous nutrient solution intended for the plant or plants, said culture medium being housed in a substantially waterproof container, the plants extending out of the container, and a method of introducing an additional amount of solution into the container when the water content in the hydrogel particles drops below 'a predetermined level. |
