titleOfInvention | Process for sizing papers containing calcium carbonate with resinous dispersions |
abstract | In order to avoid the decomposition of calcium carbonate by the solutions of acid-reacting aluminum salts used to precipitate and fix the resin glue when gluing calcium carbonate papers with resin glue dispersions, proceed as follows:n n n An aqueous colloidal solution of homogeneous aluminum hydroxide is prepared which contains 0.1 to 50 g / liter of aluminum hydroxide and has a pH of 6 to 8. This colloidal solution is mixed with the paper stock or the resin glue dispersion during or immediately after its formation under turbulent flow conditions.n n n To prepare the colloidal solution, an aqueous solution containing 1 to 40 g / liter of an acidic aluminum salt can be mixed either under turbulent flow conditions in a stoichiometric ratio with an aqueous solution containing 1 to 50 g / liter of at least one alkaline substance , or pass them over an anion exchanger in the OH form. |
